Our philosophy: Nostios is built around the belief that your personal data belongs to you. We design our apps to store data locally on your device whenever possible, and we are committed to being transparent about what information is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have.
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Nostios — whether you visit our website, use one of our mobile apps, or contact us directly.
Information You Provide to Us
We may collect information that you voluntarily provide, such as:
- Your email address when you contact us for support, feedback, or inquiries
- Any additional information you include in your communications with us
We do not require user accounts, registrations, or sign-ups for any of our products.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit nostios.com, certain information may be collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure and third-party services, including:
- Server logs — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps
- Cookies and similar technologies — functional and session cookies used by our content management system (see Cookies & Tracking below)
- Font and asset requests — our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may result in your browser sending request data (such as IP address) to Google's servers
This type of automatic data collection is standard for websites on the modern internet. We minimize it where possible, but we want to be transparent that it occurs.
Information Stored Locally by Our Apps
Our mobile apps store data on your device to provide their core functionality. This data is not transmitted to Nostios servers. See the Resonance and Games sections below for details on what each app stores.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain our services — hosting and delivering our website, ensuring our apps function correctly
- To respond to your inquiries — replying to support requests, feedback, and other communications you send us
- To improve our products — understanding how our website is used to make it better (through aggregate, non-identifying server log data)
- To ensure security — protecting our website and services from misuse, fraud, or technical issues
- To comply with legal obligations — meeting applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not build user profiles for marketing purposes.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies as part of its normal operation. These include:
- Essential cookies — required for basic website functionality, set by our hosting platform (Ghost)
- Session cookies — temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser, used to maintain your browsing session
We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or behavioral profiling. For details on cookies set by our hosting platform, see Ghost's Privacy Policy.
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may affect your experience on certain parts of our website. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable.
Third-Party Services
Our website and apps interact with third-party services in the course of their normal operation. We want to be clear about who those parties are and what data they may receive.
Website (nostios.com)
- Ghost(Pro) — our content management and hosting platform. Ghost's infrastructure processes server requests and may collect server logs. See Ghost's Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts — our website loads typefaces from Google's font service. When your browser requests these fonts, Google may receive your IP address and browser information. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Resonance (iOS App)
- Apple iTunes Search API — used to search for and retrieve podcast metadata. No user-identifying information is sent with these requests.
- Podcast hosting servers — RSS feeds, audio streams, and episode downloads are fetched directly from podcast publishers' servers.
- Apple CLGeocoder — if you opt in to location tracking, GPS coordinates are sent to Apple's reverse geocoding service to convert them into human-readable place names. This is processed under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Resonance does not include any third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks, or advertising libraries. It is built entirely with Apple's native frameworks.
Games (Block Tower Sort & Trap the Dot)
Our games do not communicate with any third-party services. They are fully offline applications with no network capabilities.
Resonance
Resonance is a podcast player for iOS. It is designed to store your listening data locally on your device. Nostios does not operate servers that receive or store your Resonance data.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is created and stored locally on your device to provide the app's functionality:
- Podcast subscriptions — the podcasts you follow
- Episode progress — your playback position in episodes
- Listening sessions — records of when and how long you listened
- Location data (optional, opt-in) — GPS coordinates recorded during playback, used to show your listening history on a map
- Ratings and notes — your personal ratings, reviews, and notes about podcasts and episodes
- Playlists and queue — your organized episode collections
- Saved and hidden episodes — episodes you have favorited or hidden
- Search history — recent search terms for convenience
- Downloaded episodes — audio files saved for offline listening
- App settings — your preferences (playback speed, skip intervals, theme, etc.)
Location Data
Location tracking in Resonance is entirely optional and requires your explicit permission through iOS's location services prompt. If you choose to enable it:
- Location is only recorded while a podcast is actively playing
- All location data is stored locally on your device
- GPS coordinates are sent to Apple's reverse geocoding service to generate place names (processed by Apple, not Nostios)
- You can disable location tracking or delete all location data at any time in the app's Settings
Data Export and Portability
We believe you should be able to take your data with you. Resonance provides full data export through Settings > Data Management:
- JSON — complete data export including subscriptions, sessions, ratings, and location data
- CSV — listening sessions and journal entries in spreadsheet format
- OPML — podcast subscriptions in a standard format compatible with other podcast apps
Data Deletion
- Within the app: Settings > Data Management allows you to selectively delete downloads, listening history, location data, and ratings
- Uninstalling the app permanently removes all Resonance data from your device
Block Tower Sort & Trap the Dot
Both games are fully offline iOS applications. They do not connect to the internet, do not collect personal information, and do not include user accounts, advertising, analytics, or third-party SDKs. Game progress and settings are stored locally on your device and are permanently deleted when you uninstall the app.
Your Rights & Choices
We are committed to giving you control over your data. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate personal information
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal information
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format (Resonance supports JSON, CSV, and OPML export)
- Opt out — opt out of certain data processing activities, where applicable
Because our apps store data locally on your device rather than on our servers, you already have direct control over most of your data. You can view, export, and delete it at any time within each app.
For any data that may be held through our website infrastructure or email communications, you can exercise your rights by contacting us at hello@nostios.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.
General
Data Retention
Data stored by our mobile apps remains on your device until you choose to delete it or uninstall the app. We do not operate servers that store your app data, so there is no server-side retention for app data.
Information collected through our website (server logs) is retained by our hosting provider in accordance with their data retention policies. Communications you send us (such as support emails) are retained as long as necessary to address your inquiry and for our legitimate business records.
Children's Privacy
Our products are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@nostios.com and we will take steps to delete such information.
Security
We take reasonable measures to help protect your personal information. App data is stored within each app's sandboxed container, protected by iOS's built-in security including device encryption and app sandboxing. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Users
Our website is hosted in the United States through Ghost(Pro). If you access our website from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using our website, you consent to the transfer of your information as described in this policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of our products and website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
