Overview
Block Tower Sort is a satisfying puzzle game where you sort colored blocks into matching towers. Each puzzle is randomly generated and guaranteed to be solvable — so you'll never get stuck with an impossible challenge.
Rebuilt from the ground up as a native iOS app in Swift, Block Tower Sort features snappier animations, lower battery usage, a space-themed background, and detailed session tracking. Inspired by the classic puzzle game Tower of Hanoi, it's plain and simple fun.

Game Rules
The goal is simple: sort blocks of the same color in order six to one
- Begin — At the start of each game, blocks are randomly sorted into mishapen towers
- Move — Only the top most block on a tower can be moved
- Place — You can place the selected block on any block of the same color with a higher number or an empty space
- Lock — If you place blocks of the same color in the correct order, they become locked and move together for the rest of the game
- Win - To win the game, sort each color of blocks in order from six to one
Every puzzle is guaranteed to be solvable. If you get stuck, use the unlimited undo feature to try a different approach.
Controls
Block Tower Sort uses simple tap-based controls.
- Tap a tower — Selects the top block, lifting it up
- Tap another tower — Places the selected block on the tapped tower (if the move is valid)
- Tap the same tower — Cancels the selection and puts the block back
- Undo button — Reverses your last move
Scoring
Your score is based on how many moves it takes to sort all the blocks. The game screen displays your current move count and your all-time fewest moves for that difficulty — try to beat your personal best.
For a full game history with detailed stats, see Session Tracking.
Undo Moves
Made a wrong move? No problem. Block Tower Sort features unlimited undo — tap the undo button to reverse your last move, and keep tapping to undo as many moves as you want. You can even undo all the way back to the starting position.
Puzzle Generation
Every puzzle in Block Tower Sort is randomly generated at the start of each game. The generation algorithm guarantees that every puzzle has at least one valid path to victory, so you'll never encounter an impossible board.

Beginner Tips
- Keep empty spaces available — Empty spaces act as temporary storage. Try to always have at least one empty space
- Focus on one color — Instead of moving blocks randomly, pick one color and work toward completing its tower first
- Look before you move — Scan the board before making a move. Sometimes the obvious move isn't the best one
- Use undo freely — Undo is unlimited and there's no penalty. Experiment with different approaches
Advanced Strategies
- Plan 3-4 moves ahead — Think about where each block will end up, not just the next move
- Avoid creating "dead" towers — A tower with mixed colors at the bottom is harder to fix later
- Prioritize freeing buried blocks — Identify which blocks are trapped under the wrong colors and work to free them
- Use the "staging" technique — Temporarily move blocks to empty space to access blocks deeper in the stack
Privacy & Data
Block Tower Sort respects your privacy completely.
- No account required — Play without signing up or providing personal information

Common Issues
A block won't move to a tower
The selected block can only be placed on towers where the top block is the same color with a higher number, or on empty space. If neither condition is met, the move won't be allowed.
I think the puzzle is unsolvable
Every puzzle is guaranteed to be solvable. If you feel stuck, try using undo to go back several moves and try a different approach. Sometimes starting over with a fresh strategy can help you find a solution.
My scores reset after an update
